Gig Drei

Gig #3 or 'The One to More Strangers' - 17th June 05, the Hare and Hounds pub, Kings Heath ~ 8.40-9.10ish

Last night's gig supporting Anubis at the Hare and Hounds left us with sore ears and a feeling of benign contentment as we left the stage. Our set was short, sharp and shambolic, and seemed to win over some and bewilder others (what more could you ask for?). It was very noisy on stage but 'The Radiators' (as the soundman titled us) chugged along and apparently it sounded quite good. We had to cut the set short because the corporate fat cats that like eating African children demanded it. Either that or I took too much time getting a pint in, and because of this I was labeled a goober by my hypocrite alcoholic bandmate. Can't complain though, sexy Hogshaw pulls in the crowd with his static strumming. I even saw him swaying at one point! Chris found out how interesting his shoes were during the set as well as complaining the strobe light was too strobey before planning another essay, and Matt raged around on the kit thunderously throwing some sweet tom toms straight into the middle of Multisonti's chorus. Apparently I yelped quite a lot, and acted 'generally like a man on crazy pills'. I was sober, I swears! Well, soberish. My nerves were non existent which was a very new experience and I loosened up enough to make an arse of myself jumping about the place and ululating. The stage was unfortunately too dirty for a headstand, but there's always next time...

Setlist:
  • Dolphin Song
  • Something in the Water
  • The Approach
  • Christopher Multisonti
  • Senate Rebel
We must thank the feisty rockin' Urge for letting us borrow one of their amps, as well as Anubis/Jez Moorcroft/Steve Jones for transporting the rest of the amps and the drums. Oh, and Anubis nearly tore the place apart by the way, they are tight tight tight. The musicianship and anthemic choruses that gang displays is nothing short of vomit-worthy. In a good way of course. We would like to thank them once again for letting us support them, and to the people who came - nice one.

Plus we made £10!!!!! How novel. Maybe this'll goes towards the £1 band fund to buying ladiesintheradiator.co.uk, or if we raise 1 more pound, this. Now with this gig out of the way, as soon as exams finish you should hopefully see a more active LitR, as we are full to bursting with new ideas for our 'complicated noise'. I think yesterday helped us grasp the idea of soundchecking. Wha? Playing before you go on?!?!

In response to the Hare and Hounds gig I highly suggest that the Ladies recruit some more personnel in a bid to improve stage presence i.e a man in a chair (give him a triangle and a fancy hat - possibly upturned colinder with a light inside - sit him directly in front of chris to stimulate a fit) also animals in clothing are reliably entertaining, they dont have to walk on two feet but its preferable, Matt should definitely drum standing up - its just lazy any other way...I dont care if he has to play two sets ARGGGHHHHHH ill stab everyone
