Choons

The choons wot we have. - Denotes who wrote the words

  • Nine Month Media Blackout - Thom
-This was the first song we ever completed, an elegy to Kurt Cobain written on two acoustic guitars and an electric. Hehehe. It was untouchable 'til the end of the first verse..
  • Dolphin Song - Chrees, Thom
-The second song we completed is one we still play. It was based around one of the first riffs I ever came up with, created in Lumb Bank, surrounded by Yorkshire's lush rolling valleys. A slow burner. I think it's called the Dolphin Song because my end guitar part 'sounds like a fuckin' dolphin', as James Bentley so eloquently put it.
  • Something in the Water - Thom, Chrees
-This is a simple, manic punk number which seems to get the crowd going.
---------------------
  • Blizzard of 04 - Chrees
This is about the a snowstorm that occured on a evening in early January 04, where we were celebrating 17 years since the birth of our dear friend Jamie.
  • Christmas in July - Chrees
I believe this one's about a bus ticket Chris bought in July, wishing him a merry Christmas on the back. Also some bits about Seasonal Affected disorder, as I, for some inexplicable reason, have a lightbox, a blinding neon light to combat S.A.D. At our first gig we flipped the lights off at the outro, put the lightbox on, and gradually turned down our guitars. First to ever do a live fade out?

  • Senate Rebel - Chrees, Thom
The lyrics for this one were inspired by the Libertines. I was going through a phase of looking at a word and spelling it backwards, and when drunk at T in the Park 2003, I was looking at the banner beneath which the Libs (sans Pete) were thrashing, and realised that the Libertines backwards was 'Senitrebil', which my brain registered as the 'Senate Rebel', and proceeded to create a story which evolved into this:
It's the future! The rich-poor divide is now so huge that the rich live in massive skyscrapers and the poor live in smog-filled poverty on the ground. The pollution has caused the poor to grow a third eye, making them mutants in the eyes of the rich. However this third eye gains them an insight into the meaning of life, the universe and everything, and in a moment of mundane routine, the rich realise this, and the senate rebel, society crumbles, chaos ensues. I told this to Chris, he penned some stream-of-conciousness lines, which I then shaped into a veeeeery rough melody. The end noise explosion is due to me being hungover at one practice and attacking my crappy guitar in a rage as I knew I was soon getting a new, slightly less crap one.
  • Christopher Multisonti -Thom
Ah yes, quickest lyrics I ever wrote, after watching an episode of the Sopranos. 2nd best tv show ever*, and a great character to write about. Chris and Adam had the tune down, and it all fell together when I opened my mouth.
*The Simpsons, duh!
  • Blurry Life -Thom
This is a complicated, intricate ditty which made us a stronger unit. Was originally quite mid tempo but Matt sped it up with an urgent drum beat and now it's a bit of an energetic, dancey number.
  • Oh, Joyous Noel
God knows how this came about, it was nearing Christmas and we were jamming, Adam was clowning around, and bada bing bada boom.
---------------------
  • The Approach - Thom
This is one written over Christmas about the apocalypse. I figured the suns light takes 8 minute to reach the earth, so when it blows up, noone will know for 8 minutes. The song is about that 8 minutes.
---------------------
  • Jersey -Chrees
Written by Chris about Jersey celebrity Lillie Langtry, due to her portraits being displayed in LitR's practice room/Adams granddad's pub lounge.
---------------------
  • Never a Childhood Pyromaniac -Thom
I'ld be here all night....
---------------------
  • Anchorline Goodbye - Chrees, Thom
Also about Lillie Langtry, and her estranged cuckolded sea-faring husband.

More soon...
